How the remote consultation works

A step-by-step walkthrough of Care Buddy — King Faisal Specialist Hospital — Medical Tourism's AI assistant that connects you with the right specialist for a remote video consultation.

  1. 1

    Tell us about yourself

Start the intake from the homepage. You'll be asked for your full name, gender, date of birth, nationality, and a national ID or passport number — plus a valid email and/or phone number so we can reach you and send you a link back to your request at any time.

  2. 2

    Language and any special needs

Tell us your mother tongue — if it isn't Arabic or English, you can request an interpreter. You'll also be asked whether you'll need a wheelchair, a mobile bed, or a permanent companion during a hospital stay, so the hospital can prepare in advance if your case later requires an in-person visit.

  3. 3

    Share your medical report

If you already have a detailed medical report, upload it (PDF, image, or text file). Care Buddy reads it automatically — including scanned or photographed pages. If you don't have one yet, you can save your request as a draft: we'll email you a private link so you can come back and attach it whenever it's ready.

If your report can't be read clearly (a blurry photo, for example), you'll always be told plainly and given the choice to try a different file or let our team review it manually — never a silent dead end.

  4. 4

We match you with a specialist

Care Buddy reads the diagnosis in your report and shows you the two specialist doctors at the hospital best suited to your condition, along with their specialty and a short bio. You choose the one you'd like to see.

  5. 5

Pick your time, sign in, and send it

You choose an appointment time from the doctor's real availability, and you'll see the consultation fee if the hospital has published one. Before your request is sent you'll be asked to sign in or create an account — that's what lets you come back to this page later and see your appointment, your join link and your doctor's report. Nothing you've entered is lost when you do.

  6. 6

What happens after you send it

With one click, your request is sent directly into the hospital's own electronic health record system. This is a genuine, doctor-assigned remote consultation — no travel and no visa are required for this step. You'll see a confirmation on screen, and the same details are emailed to you, including a downloadable consultation summary letter for your own records.

Your request first shows as "awaiting hospital review". That's normal and it means a person at the hospital is looking at it — they confirm it and assign your doctor. You don't need to do anything while it says that. When it changes, or when your doctor writes their report, we'll email you.

Your appointment time is shown in Riyadh time. It is a video consultation — you join from wherever you are, and you can add it to your calendar from the same page.

Good to know

Is this a real doctor?

Yes. The two consultants shown after matching are real, employed specialists at the hospital — not an AI. Care Buddy only helps you find and reach the right one.

Do I need to travel?

No — the consultation itself is a remote video visit. If your doctor later recommends in-person treatment, the hospital's own International Patient Office will coordinate that separately.

Is my information kept private?

Your medical report and personal details are used only to match you with a specialist and create your consultation request — never shared beyond what the hospital's own system needs.

I don't have a Saudi national ID

That's fine — most of our guests don't. Choose "Passport" (or "Iqama" if you live here) and enter that number instead. The hospital is told which document it is, so nothing gets confused.

My scans are huge and the wifi is slow

Attach them before you book — that submission is what carries them to your doctor. If an upload drops, try it again on the same step rather than continuing without it; your link stays open, so you can come back and finish when the connection is better.

I need to cancel or change my time

Use "Ask the hospital to cancel" on your consultation page. It sends your request to the hospital and someone confirms it by email — until they do, please treat the appointment as still booked.

Can the assistant book for me?

It can answer questions, read a report you upload, open your form and fill in what you've told it — so when you get there, most of it is already done. Choosing a doctor and a time happens in the form itself. That's deliberate: booking touches the hospital's real schedule.

Will you tell me when something changes?

Yes. When the hospital assigns your doctor, moves or cancels your appointment, or your report is ready, we email you shortly afterwards. The email tells you what changed and links back to your page — it never contains your medical details, so nothing sensitive sits in your inbox.
